An “Eudaimonia machine” is a building wherein each separate space is constructed to facilitate a certain form of focus or collaboration. The concept of the Eudaimonia machine becomes an interesting and vital concept in a culture wherein a workforce does not spend it’s entire work week in an office.
If space becomes less of a premium commodity then that space becomes free to support more diverse concepts and models of purpose. This allows for specific styles of work, supports people rotating in and out of spaces, but also specifically elicit different modes of thought. This model does not eliminate occurrences like the social aspect of work but instead optimizes and potentially separates them from other opposed aspects, like deep work.
